Greek Food:
Food in ancient Greece is way different than our food today. There were no potaoes, chocolate, corn, tomatos, etc. People mostly ate foods produced from wheat and barley, such as bread and porrige. They ate vegetables like beans, onions, and cabbage. Fish and red meat were rare and expensive, so pork, goose, and chicken were the main meats. Because the food was bland they flavored it with things like honey, wine, olive oil, herbs and spices.
Feasts (Symposia):
Like always only men were allowed at the Symposia. Wives, daughters, and young sons had to stay away. The men ate a lot, drank, sang songs, and played games. Entertainers like musicians or acrobats might be hired. The men played a game called kottabos, which involved the dregs from their wine and a target. They lounged on couches, not at tables like we do.

Greek Fashion:
There are 2 major types of clothing styles: Ionic or Doric chiton. Both women and men wore them, men's were usually shorter though. The fabric was made out of wool, and was colored red, yellow, blue, or brown.
Women:
Ionic: The Ionic chiton was not folded, but buttoned at the top with spaces for the head and arms. The sides were sewn and women usually tied a girdle which held up the extra material.
Doric: This chiton was folded at the top, and in half horizontally. Then it was wrapped around the body and held together by pins at the shoulder.
Women didn't wear hats, but styled their hair and put ribbons or a scarf in as an accessory. Women wore jewelry, especially necklaces and earrings.
Men:
The men usually wore shorter versions of the Ionic chiton, which came down to the middle of their thighs. If the weather was cold they might wear a cloak. If a man was traveling he would wear a large hat (kind of like a sombrero) called a petasos, or a small felt hat without a brim called a pilos.
Soldiers:
Soldiers wore a chiton under their armor. The armor consisted of a breast plate, greaves, and a helmet. If the soldier was a hoplite, heavily armed, they would also carry a shield, long spear, and a short sword.
